the Triumph TR1, The prototype was unveiled at
the London Motor Show, however the TR1 name was
never official.
The car was built with existing parts like the
chassis, from a pre war Standard Flying 9, an
engine from a Standard Vanguard and the
suspension from the Triumph Mayflower.
Problems became apparent when it was driven, the
handling was very poor, with a top speed of just
about 80mph and the car being an overall
disappointment to its early viewers. The Triumph
TR1 was withdrawn before production, with the
designs being taken back to the drawing board. A
year later, the Triumph TR2 was unveiled.
