1949: October: The 1800 and then the 2000
were renamed the Triumph Renown with a new
chassis based on the Standard Vanguard, with
pressed steel sections that replaced the tubes
that had been previously used. The Front
suspension was changed to coil springs, with the
three speed column shift transmission remaining.
The car also featured a new instrument layout.
1950: June: An overdrive unit was offered as an
option. British magazine The Motor tested the
Triumph Renown and reported a top speed of 75mph
and could accelerate from a 0-60 in 24.3 seconds
with fuel consumption of 23.9 miles per gallon.
1952: production stopped.
