Panther Westwinds, commonly known as Panther, was
founded in 1972 by Robert Jankel as a
manufacturer of sports and luxury cars and was based in
Surrey, United Kingdom. Throughout the 1970's
The Panther company enjoyed success with retro
styled cars utilising the mechanical components of
standard production cars.
The Panther
company collapsed in 1980 and was purchased the
Korean citizen Young Kim, he built a
new factory in Harlow, Essex, and began
building cars using Korean made bodies. The
company started building sports cars culminating
with the Panther Solo in 1990. unfortunately Panther
lost money on every Solo sold, consequently the
company was liquidated, with all the companies
assets going to the Korean Ssang Young Motor
Company shortly afterwards.
