Founding of the Pagani motor car company
The Pagani Automobile S.p.A was founded in
1992 by Horacio Pagani as an Italian sports car
manufacturer
based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena in
Italy.
History of Pagani motor car company
Horacio Pagani formerly managed
Lamborghini's composite department, he
founded Pagani Composite Research in
1988. Horacio Pagani's new company worked
closely with
Lamborghini on numerous projects. Horacio Pagani began
designing his own car in the late 1980's.
In 1991 Horacio
Pagani established Modena Design to help
meet the demand for his design, engineering and
prototype services. Horacio Pagani began
construction on his Fangio F1 in 1992, by 1993
the car was being tested in the Dallara wind
tunnel with very promising results and
Mercedes-Benz agreed to supply Pagani with
V12 engines.
The final car
design was presented in 1999 at the
Geneva Motor Show, under the name the Zonda C12,
dropping the name Fangio F1 out of respect for
Fangio who had passed away in 1995.
Pagani announced their intention to triple production output over 3 years from 2005,
this was to facilitate entry in to the US market in 2007.
