The Kia motor car company
Founding of the Kia motor car company Kia Motors America was introduced to America in 1992, with the first Kia branded vehicles were sold from four dealerships in Portland, Oregon, February 1994, eventually expanding region to region. Kia in 1997 partially fell victim to the Asian financial crisis and become bankrupt resulting in 51% of the Kia company being acquired by their main South Korean rivals, the Hyundai Motor Company, who outbid Ford Motor Company who had owned an interest in Kia Motors since 1986. However, Hyundai have since divested some of their ownership of Kia Motors, Hyundai Motor Company currently own less than 40% of Kia Motors. Kia production in the US started in November 2009 at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, based in West Point, Georgia, USA.
