The Ford Motor company was launched with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors with John and Horace Dodge being the most notable at the time. On November 3rd 1901 Henry Ford's first attempt was the Henry Ford Company which on August 22nd 1902, became Cadillac Motor Company. For the first early few years the company produced a few cars in its Mack Avenue factory based in Detroit Michigan. In the factory, groups of between 2 or 3 men built each car from components made to order by other companies. When Henry Ford founded the company he was 40 years old and his company would become one of the worlds biggest and most profitable in the world. The company, was also one of a few to survive the great depression, and be one of the largest family controlled companies in the world that continues and has done for over 100 years.
