WW1 he fixed shoes on mules in the Italian Army.

1898:
February 20th 1898 Enzo Ferrari was born.
1919: In 1919 Ferrari worked for a car company
called CMN he raced for the CMN team and had
little success.
1920: In 1920 Enzo Ferrari went to work for Alfa
Romeo and had more success racing their cars.
1923: In 1923 he raced at the Circuit of Sivocci
at Ravenna and was given the famous prancing
horse on a yellow shield by the parents of
Francesco Baracca Italian a pilot and national
hero of WW1. Baracca had died during the war and
the shield had decorated the fuselage of his
fighter.
1929: This was the year of the Wall Street
crash, which started the Great Depression, and
the car business was badly affected. In 1929
Enzo Ferrari formed the Scuderia Ferrari as the
racing team for Alfa, the aim of Scuderia
Ferrari was to organize racing for members.
1939 - 1945: WW11. Production and design of
motor cars basically ceased as all manufacturing
resources became involved with the war effort.
Ferrari started a new company and moved from
Modena to Maranello the company was called Auto-Avio
Costruzioni Ferrari, the workshop was bombed in
1944.
1946: In 1946 the workshop was rebuilt and the
125 Sport became the first ever
Ferrari.
1947: In 1947 the 125 Sport the first road car
by Ferrari was built, reluctantly these were
built to fund Scuderia Ferrari
1951: In 1951 José Froilán González (an
Argentinian racing driver) gave Ferrari their
first win at the British Grand prix at
Silverstone.
1952: In 1952 Ferrari had it’s first Drivers
Championship.
1956: In 1956 Alfredo Ferrari, son of Enzo
Ferrari, died aged 24 of muscular dystrophy.
Alfredo’s nickname was Dino and the Fiat Dino
cars were named after him.
1965: In 1965 Fiat took a small share in
Ferrari’s company.
1969: In 1969 due to years of financial problems
Enzo Ferrari sold 50% of Ferrari's share capital
to the Fiat group.
1971: In 1971 Enzo Ferrari stepped down as
managing director but remained an influence on
the company until he died.
1987: In 1987 to 1989 Ferrari produced the
Ferrari F40 and held the title as the worlds
fastest legal production car.
1988: In 1988 Fiat had 90% of Ferrari’s share
capital and Enzo Ferrari died on 14th August
1988 in Modena aged 90.
2003: In 2003 a 12 cylinder mid engine
Berlinetta production car was named after the
company’s founder Enzo Ferrari.
2007: In 2007 The Financial Times put Ferrari
top of 100 Best Workplaces in Europe.
