History of DWK motor car company
TDKW (Dampf-Kraft-Wagen or steam-driven car)
was formed by the Danish born engineer Jørgen
Skafte Rasmussen in 1916 and was amalgerated
with Audi, Horch and Wanderer, in 1932 to form
Auto Union based in Zwickau. Following the end
of WW2 DWK was re-founded in west Germany 1949,
this was due to the loss of the Soviets of its
Zwickau assets. The F89 was the first car to be
produced by Auto Union in the west after the war
and given the DWK name. From 1956 to 1967, DWK
car models based to the 3=6 were manufactured
under license by VEMAGin in Brazil, South
America.
