Founding of the Bristol motor car company
The company Bristol started life as an
aircraft manufacturer formed in 1910 and in 1960 split
in two new companies, the British Aircraft Corporation
(now British
Aerospace) and Bristol Cars Ltd which was acquired by
former Grand Prix racing driver Tony Crook and
the grandson of the original founder of the
Bristol aircraft company.
In 1973 Tony Crook
became sole owner and managing director of
Bristol Cars Ltd
and has since tailored the cars and company
as required to satisfy his customers needs with
the aid of financial partner who helped the
company meet the challenges of the new millennium.
It is of note
that the Bristol
Car company is the only car manufacturer building luxury cars that has
always remained in totally British
ownership.
