• 1878: In 1878 Lionel Martin was born.

• 1913: In 1913 Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford sold cars made by Singer.

• 1914 - 1918 WW1 production stopped and machinery was sold to Sopwith Aviation Company. In 1914 Aston Martin was founded along with Partner Robert Bamford ( the Aston part of Aston Martin came from Martin's success at the Aston Hill climb in a car that he and Robert Bamford had prepared.).

• 1915: In 1915 the first car named Aston Martin was created.

• 1920: In 1920 Robert Bamford retires and the company was funded by Count Louis Zborowski. Count Louis Zborowski was a racing driver and automobile engineer.

• 1924: In 1924 the company went bankrupt. Count Louis Zborowski died after hitting a tree during the Italian Grand Prix. Lady Charnwood then bought the company.

• 1925: In 1925 the company failed & the factory was closed.

• 1926: In 1926 Lionel Martin Left. Lady Charnwood, who had already invested heavily in the company again took control with a number of rich investors and moved the company to a former Aircraft works in Feltham and renamed it Aston Martin Motors. Renwick and Bertelli, two of the investors, developed a car known as the 'Buzzbox' with an overhead cam 4 cylinder engine and was hoping to sell the engine to motor manufacturers, but instead decided to capitalise on the reputation of the Aston Martin name and started production of a completely new car.

• 1929: In 1929 this was the year of the Wall Street crash, which started the Great Depression, and the car business was badly affected.

• 1930 - 1939: As the economy recovered from the stock market crash Motor Car companies thrived and less wealthy people began to purchase motor vehicles.

• 1932: In 1932 L. Prideaux Brune rescued the company as it had Financial problems, Prideaux Brune was a very wealthy man, but would withdraw his financial support if orders did not pick up, they didn't so he sold his stake to R Gordon Sutherland.

• 1933: In 1932 Sir Arthur Sutherland a shipping tycoon purchased the company for his son R. Gordon Sutherland.

• 1936: In 1936 the company decided to concentrate on road cars.

• 1939 - 1945: WW11. Production and design of motor cars basically ceased as all manufacturing resources became involved with the war effort. During these years the Aston Martin plant was turned over to production of aircraft components.

• 1947: In 1947 David Brown had seen a classified advertisement in The Times, offering for sale a High Class Motor Business and Brown acquired Aston Martin. (David Brown started work in the family business, which made tractors; during WW2 a heavy tractor was built called the David Brown producing 7,700 this made him a wealthy man. And it was David Brown that the legendary "DB" series of Aston Martin cars was named after.)

• 1953 The first 2+2 seater goes into production the DB2/4

• 1964 DB5 appears in the James Bond Film Goldfinger.

• 1972: In 1972 the company was in financial trouble despite the cars' appreciation in value and was sold.

• 1975: In 1975 it was resold to Peter Sprague and George Minden two businessmen from North America they produced in the 70's the V8 Vantage and Volante convertible . Also in the 70's worldwide sales of Aston Martin shrank.

• 1980: In the 1980,s Victor Gauntlett a English petrochemical entrepreneur and car enthusiast bought a 10% stake in Aston Martin along with Tim Hearley. They developed the worlds fastest 4 seater production car The Lagonda, and were able to sell it with success to the Persian Gulf states.

• 1987: In 1987 Ford Motor Company acquires 75% shares in Aston Martin.

• 1993: In 1993 the DB7 was introduced and became the most successful Aston Martin ever.

• 1994 - Ford Motor Company acquires 100% holding in Aston Martin and the DB7 goes into production.

• 2003: In 2003 the 7,000th DB7 is built.

• 2007: In 2007 Aston Martin was purchased by Joint venture of two major international investment houses Investment Dar and investment Adeem.
