AC 2 litre Car Facts, Description, Design & General Information
1947: AC 2 litre was introduced in 1947, it used the 6 cylinder 1991cc engine from the 1922 AC 16, however it was now fitted with three SU carburettors allowing the engine to produce 74 bhp. An aluminium panelled body was fixed to a wooden frame mounted on a conventional steel chassis, rigid axles were used front and rear mounted on semi elliptic leaf springs, hydraulic dampers were used for the by AC for the first time. The car featured a hybrid braking system, hydraulics at the front, cables at the rear, operating 12inch drum brakes.
1949: Small number of drop-head coupes and "Buckland" tourers were produced.
1951: The engines power was increased to 85bhp and the wheel size increased slightly to 16inches.
1953: Four door saloons vertions were produced
